Retriever Training

Building lifelong relationships through effective training techniques and positive reinforcement.

Retriever Training

We bring out the best

Retriever training is a specialized type of dog training that focuses on developing the skills and abilities of retriever breeds such as Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers to name a few. These dogs were originally bred for hunting and retrieving game, and they have a natural instinct to retrieve objects both on land and in water.

At our retriever training and obedience training programs, we offer specialized training programs for retrievers that focus on developing their natural abilities and instincts. Our retriever training programs include teaching dogs how to retrieve, handle game, and work in different types of terrain and water conditions.

Building Healthy Relationships

Our trainers use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior and to build a strong bond between the dog and their owner. We offer specialized training for hunting retrievers, including obedience training, field work, and gun dog training.
In our retriever training programs, we focus on teaching the following skills:

Basic and Advanced obedience commands that are covered on our obedience training page.

Retrieval skills: Retrievers must learn how to retrieve objects on land and in water, including dummies, birds, and other game.

Handling skills: Retrievers must learn how to take direction from their owners using hand signals, whistle, creative instinct and how to work effectively as a team.

Water skills: Retrievers must learn how to work in different water conditions, including rough water, cold water, and fast-moving water.

Gun dog skills: Hunting retrievers must learn how to work around gun fire, including retrieving birds shot down by their owners.
